The Zadiņi syntropic project near Riga

Zadiņi is about an hour from Riga. After meeting property manager Elgars we agreed a trial: two syntropic rows in the main community area.

Each row is 55 m long. The plan: about 36 fruit and nut trees roughly 4 m apart, about 120 support trees a metre apart, and berry bushes between every second support tree.

October setup: rotary hoe, 1 m wide beds, basalt powder and composted manure, wood chip on the edges, generous straw. Two days, four volunteers each day. That is how theory becomes land you can walk.
